Energy Efficiency

There are plenty of companies out there looking to take all they can get out of you under the guise of saving you money. DanMark Electric is the electrical contractor that can help you wade through the myriad options of "cost saving" products. Below are just a few of the products we provide that have been proven to save on energy without breaking the bank.

Lighting

LED Inserts for can lighting from Halo are an energy efficient alternative to traditional incandescent or fluorescent trims. At less than 10 watts for the equivalent light of 60 watts incandescent, that's an energy savings of over 80%! Compatible with new or existing recessed lights, it's a great way to save energy.

Halo's SLD series LED lights are a great way to cut energy use. Low profile surface mount light that is both aesthetically pleasing and bright. They can be mounted in a six inch can or even to a standard light box, which makes them a great replacement for existing surface mount lighting. Available in different trim accents to suit any décor.

The latest in the Halo surface mount LED's is the SMD. Available in either round or square these ultra low profile lights give you yet another option for energy savings. Able to be mounted to either a can or a ceiling box makes these a truly flexible option.

If you have a large number of fluorescent fixtures and find fixture replacement is outside of your current budget, LED replacement tubes may be an option for you. Using less than half the electricity of the equivalent fluorescent tube, the cost of this upgrade may be within reach. Keep in mind, however, that all LEDs are not created equal. Poor quality LEDs will use more electricity and have shorter lifespan than those of better quality.

Controls

The Lutron® Maestro® Occupancy sensing switch combines a Maestro® switch with a passive infrared occupancy or vacancy sensor. The sensor detects the heat from occupants moving within an area to determine whether the space is occupied. Based on the feedback from the sensor, the occupancy sensing switch will adjust the load accordingly. Advanced sensing technology for fine motion detection ensures that the lights stay on while the room is occupied, and that the sensor does not turn on falsely when there is no occupancy in the room.

The Pass & Seymour® Astronomical timers are an excellent choice to control outdoor lighting. Compatible with most types of lighting these timers calculate the exact daylight/night hours using your geographical location. Unlike photo sensors that may trigger lights in overcast weather, an astronomical timer knows the time of sunrise and sunset every day. No more false on switching. What's more, you can program your lights to turn off after being on for a set time period.

Although traditionally installed more for ambience than energy savings, Lutron dimmers can save up to 15% of energy usage when used on incandescent lighting. To save even more smart dimmers used in conjunction with daylight sensors to automatically dim the lights based on the amount of daylight entering the room from the outside are also available.
